Rotating Shapes

What are 3 things you need to say to describe a rotation?
1. Where is the centre of rotation
2. How much is it turned through. (1/4 or 1/2 turn or an angle)
3. Whether the rotation is anticlockwise or clockwise.

Explain what centre of rotation mean
The centre of rotation is the coordinates that show from where the shape will be turned from.

Now use these 3 things to describe the rotation on Page 1 of the myimaths lesson (i.e. describe the rotation of the triangle)
The centre of rotation of the triangle is 1,1.
The triangle has been turned 90º and is clockwise

Rotational Symmetry

  1. What rotational symmetry? Rotational symmetry is a shape that can be rotated around and still look the same.
  2. How is rotational symmetry different to line symmetry? Line symmetry is when you mirror the shape and you see the other half, but rotational symmetry is when the shape can be lifted up into it self and still look the same.
  3. What do need to do check if a shape has rotational symmetry? Turn it 360º

Abstract art

- Happiness

I chose this image because it resembles happiness. It has flowers with vibrant colours on it that makes me feel happy.

- Anger

For me this image resembles anger because it has blacks and greys on it that makes it look sad and then the dashes of red makes it look angry.

- Disappointment

This image has dark blue ink that looks like its running down the page and when you are disappointed your emotions drop. Therefore I think it resembles disappointment.

 - Boredom

I chose this image because at the top of the page it has pale colours and as it progresses down it gets darker.

- Happiness

This is what I made to display an emotion. This resembles happiness because it has lots of bright colours,
